This year, we were honored and excited to host the fifth annual healthcare industry summit at Workday Rising in Orlando with over 500 customer representatives—doubling the size of last year’s summit in Las Vegas.
The Workday healthcare community continues to grow as does Workday’s investment in solutions for the healthcare industry. A new healthcare customer even joined our community during the summit, with business leaders from Wayne State University Physician Group signing their contract on stage.
We listened to feedback from customers last year who said they wanted to hear more from other customers during the summit, so we provided ample time for multiple customers to share their journeys and learnings as healthcare industry leaders and provide insights as experts in the field. We heard from customers including Adventist HealthCare, Bon Secours Mercy Health, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, ChristianaCare, and Sanford Health, among others.
To kick off the customer presentations, Josh Robinson, chief information officer from Sanford Health, shared his advice for managing change in an organization. He discussed his success with instilling the need for delegation, creating strong partnerships with other leaders and influencers, and learning to pivot and change quickly when plans or circumstances change. Robinson also talked more specifically about the Sanford Health customer journey sharing, “Workday has been the perfect solution for us.”
Also taking the stage were Joe Gage, chief human resources officer, and Dan Hurry, chief supply chain officer from Bon Secours Mercy Health. They provided insights on how they’ve connected people, processes, technology, and innovation in their organization. Gage shared the need for using feedback from employees to create better workforce planning and improve talent management. Hurry discussed the benefits of having a supply chain strategy focused on efficiency and reducing touch points, and the value of aligning digital strategy with operational execution. Both discussed the power of collaboration and how full integration within an organization requires constantly reinforcing the “why” behind decision making.
Throughout the summit, customers had an opportunity to connect and gain ideas on innovation efforts, managing regulatory changes, and effective change management strategies. They participated in round table discussions where they discussed challenges and shared lessons learned during digital transformation efforts across their IT, finance, human resources, and supply chain functions.
We also celebrated our community’s healthcare innovation award winners, selected based on criteria such as pioneering the use of new Workday products or features, collaborating in the community, and driving significant innovation.
Intermountain Healthcare was honored with the Digital Transformation Award for exceptional efforts and creativity in reimaging their business processes prior to deploying Workday.
University of Minnesota Physicians received the Trailblazer Award for success in driving a culture of engaged learning and sharing.
John Muir Health received the Collaboration Champion Award for helping foster a community open to sharing best practices—by sharing its own lessons learned—and its willingness to answer questions within the Workday community.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was honored with the Process Innovation Award for improving the workflow of its general medical education training programs.
At Workday Rising, our Workday team announced the beta release of new blockchain-powered credentialing technology, which supports issuing, managing, and verifying credentials. The video below shares more details about Workday Credentials for enterprises and WayTo™ by Workday for individuals, and how these solutions will directly support healthcare organizations: Workday Credentials and WayTo by Workday.
Throughout Workday Rising, healthcare customers connected with others in the industry through numerous sessions both on and off the exhibit floor. Sessions included panel discussions with healthcare leaders, demonstrations on Workday functionality, and networking sessions. We look forward to another collaborative healthcare summit and healthcare breakout sessions next year at Workday Rising in San Francisco!
