Joining Forces to Fight Coronavirus

In an effort to do our part, Workday has made donations to causes on the front lines of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and to communities that need our help. We’ve also started our own initiatives for our workforce and are encouraging employees to do what they can to help.

At Workday, our core values are fundamental to who we are as a company and the decisions we make. They’re our North Star, and during this unprecedented time, they guide our responses and decisions regarding our workforce, communities, and the world at large. As we reflect on these values—which include employees, customers, and integrity—we know we must think about the broader impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) so that we come together and do what we can to get through this global crisis.

In an effort to do our part, we’ve made donations to causes on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis and to the communities that need our help. Additionally, we’ve started our own initiatives for our workforce and are encouraging employees to do what they can to help.

Supporting our Employees

Our employees will always be our number one core value. With that in mind, we’ve put in place several initiatives to assist them during this challenging time. For example, we’re providing most employees with a two-week pay bonus to help with unforeseen childcare needs and other expenses. We’ve also established a relief fund to help our employees who have significant hardships and may need additional financial support to cover costs as a result of this pandemic.

We’ve also seen many of our employees want to do their part. At Workday, our giving and doing philosophy has always been to empower employees to do more for the causes that matter most to them, and it couldn’t be more true in this time of need. Through our Employee Match Program, employees can have their donations matched by Workday to organizations on the front lines of COVID-19, including CDC Foundation, COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO, Direct Relief, and Doctors Without Borders. In addition, employees have access to a platform through Workday that allows them to set up fundraising campaigns for organizations in their own areas that need critical funds to support local residents and small businesses.

Joining Other Companies to Donate $22 Million

We’ve joined forces with 25 companies to collectively raise $22 million to support the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. As part of this collaborative, Workday has donated a combined total of $1.5 million to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the United Nations Foundation. Through these donations, our goal is to support communities in need in the Bay Area as well as at national and global levels. The collaborative includes Autodesk, Box, Cisco, DocuSign, Dropbox, GitHub, Intuit, LinkedIn, NetApp, Okta, PagerDuty, Palo Alto Networks, Pledge 1%, Postmates, Pure Storage, Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Silicon Valley Bank, Slack, SurveyMonkey, Twilio, Workday, Zoom Video Communications, and Zuora.

Donation to COVID-19 Fund in Ireland

Our Workday European headquarters is based in Dublin, Ireland. Through a COVID-19 relief fund, The Community Foundation for Ireland, we are helping those in the country who need it most, including the homeless and the elderly.

Committing to the #StopTheSpread Pledge

Last week we signed the #StopTheSpread pledge—led by Guild Education and investor Kenneth I. Chenault—joining hundreds of other business leaders in the fight to stop the spread of COVID-19. As part of this effort, we’re supporting the need for the production and distribution of high-quality ventilators and other supplies at scale in the U.S. We believe our collective donations will help benefit these important efforts.

Doing Our Part

While these efforts are a good start, we know more work needs to be done. We strongly believe that through our collective efforts we can help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and assist those who are greatly impacted. We’re all in this together, and we encourage you to join us in supporting our communities at this critical time in history.
