Sayan Chakraborty is executive vice president of technology at Workday, responsible for the company’s core software, infrastructure, and interface platforms; machine learning; data center operations; enterprise security and trust; and Workday Cloud Platform teams.
Previously, Sayan was senior vice president of tools and technology at Workday. Sayan joined Workday in 2015 through the acquisition of GridCraft, where he was the co-founder and chief operating officer. Prior to GridCraft, Sayan was vice president of software development at Oracle, where he led teams focused on next-generation collaboration products. Before Oracle, Sayan served in various leadership roles at several technology start-ups over the course of nearly two decades. At the start of his career, Sayan worked as an engineer on interplanetary spacecraft at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and on the early commercialization of global positioning systems (GPSs).
Sayan holds a master of science degree and a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the appointment of 27 experts to the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC), including Sayan Chakraborty, executive vice president of product and technology at Workday. The committee will advise President Biden and the White House’s National AI Initiative Office on a broad range of AI issues.
