A New Era of Recruiting: Talent Acquisition Agent Is In Early Access

Workday's Talent Acquisition Agent handles routine hiring tasks automatically, keeping hiring moving 24/7. Recruiters spend less time on admin, so they can focus on engaging top talent and making better hiring decisions faster.

According to Workday’s latest Global Workforce Report, The Adaptability Advantage, the hiring market is getting more crowded: applications per offer rose from a median of 58 in July 2025 to 69 in July 2026. Yet more applications aren’t necessarily producing better matches. Hiring managers still struggle to find the right skills, and misalignment on pay, location, and flexibility keeps roles open. At the same time, more applications mean more admin work for talent acquisition teams, pulling them away from candidate interactions.

That’s why I’m excited to share that Workday’s Talent Acquisition Agent is now in early access. It helps recruiting teams focus on what matters, keeps hiring moving around the clock, and reduces the manual effort of stitching systems and steps together.

For many of our customers, some of the hardest recruiting work starts when a brand-new role comes out of workforce planning. Because the role didn’t exist before, there is often no benchmark, search history, or perfect resume match. Recruiters have to interpret the role, translate the skills, search across systems, check internal talent, look externally, coordinate with the hiring manager, and manage outreach.

Talent Acquisition Agent handles that admin work for them, bringing recruiting into a single flow that calls on the right underlying agents and skills based on what a recruiter is trying to accomplish. It’s one of Workday’s first autopilot agents—before a recruiter even has time to think about a new role, Talent Acquisition Agent is already building a pipeline, surfacing matches, and drafting suggested outreach for them to review. It works in the background throughout the recruiting process, surfacing which requisitions are progressing and which risk missing their fill date. For new roles, it can identify skills-adjacent talent and explain why candidates may be a fit, giving recruiters and hiring managers a clearer starting point.

Top Talent Doesn’t Wait

Recruiting is a high-touch, relationship-driven function. Yet recruiters are spending their time coordinating handoffs, checking systems, tracking pipeline health, and figuring out what needs attention next. Talent Acquisition Agent reduces that operational drag by helping teams move from manual coordination to more proactive support.

Until now, recruiters had to monitor requisitions manually, search across disconnected sources, coordinate with hiring managers, kick off sourcing, review applicants, schedule interviews, and carry context from one hiring cycle to the next.

Talent Acquisition Agent empowers customers to:

  • Know where to focus and act before delay: The agent monitors requisition health and surfaces at-risk reqs, so recruiters don't have to flag every bottleneck manually. Within an organization's configured guardrails, it can also trigger external sourcing through connected providers such as HireEZ, Findem, or LinkedIn to build pipeline early.

  • Find the right talent, even for brand-new roles: When a role has no clear benchmark or title match, the agent can identify candidates based on skills adjacency and internal mobility, not just exact title history. Interview feedback, notes, transcripts, and hiring context become durable memory, so future candidate rediscovery starts from what the team has already learned.

  • Evaluate candidates with more context: As applicants come in, the agent surfaces HiredScore-powered grades and reasoning, so recruiters can evaluate candidates in a single view instead of reviewing resumes cold. Shortlists explain why each candidate may be a fit, helping hiring managers review faster with fewer alignment meetings.

  • Orchestrate recruiting work across connected systems: Talent Acquisition Agent works across Workday Recruiting, HiredScore, Paradox,, and connected external providers to coordinate sourcing, screening, scheduling, and more in one workflow.  When funnel analytics show that jobs need more candidates, it goes to work sourcing internal and external candidates to fill the pipeline.

  • Keep recruiters in control: Organizations decide what the agent does autonomously and what waits for human review, with autonomy settings that can vary by region, role, or organization.

Think of it as an orchestration layer across the talent acquisition journey. The user interacts with Talent Acquisition Agent, and the experience routes work to the right capability behind the scenes.

Workday’s Vision for Agentic Talent Acquisition

When I talk with recruiting leaders, I hear the same thing again and again: their teams are here to connect great people with great opportunities, not to chase approvals or refresh dashboards. That's the problem Talent Acquisition Agent was built to solve, and it's a meaningful step forward in Workday's broader agentic vision: intelligent support that is always on, context-aware, and able to move work forward until a person is needed.

It's a meaningful step forward in Workday's broader agentic vision: intelligent support that is always on, context-aware, and able to move work forward until a person is needed.

In recruiting, that means the agent is not simply waiting for a prompt. It runs on a heartbeat, understands context from the recruiting workflow, uses approved tools and memory, and works quietly in the background to help teams manage the hiring process more proactively.

What makes this especially powerful is that Talent Acquisition Agent is connected to the broader Workday ecosystem. It can work across Workday Recruiting, HiredScore, Paradox, connected external providers and provides an orchestrator for new talent acquisition skills—helping orchestrate the process instead of adding another disconnected tool to the recruiter’s stack.

Just as important, organizations remain in control. Through the Control Plane, they can determine which actions the agent can take on its own and which actions require a person, with guardrails that can vary by region, role, or organization.

Talent Acquisition Agent is one of the first ways Workday is bringing agents with autopilot capabilities into the flow of HR work: helping people see what needs attention, act faster, and spend more time on the human work that matters most. For me, that last part is the whole point. Hiring is one of the most important decisions a company makes, and AI can help recruiters spend more time where it matters most: engaging with candidates, applying human judgment, and building relationships—instead of getting buried in hours of administrative work.
