Adaptive from Workday: A New Era of Decision Intelligence

Workday Adaptive Planning is now Adaptive from Workday, reflecting a renewed focus on helping organizations plan, adapt, and act with confidence.

Business is moving faster than any planning cycle can handle. Leaders are expected to model more scenarios and make decisions faster, but the data they need is still scattered across teams, systems, and spreadsheets.

Ask any CFO what slows them down, and it’s often the work of pulling together the latest headcount numbers from HR, vendor costs from procurement, and pipeline data from sales, then reconciling it all against actuals before anyone can trust the number enough to act on it. By the time all of that analysis is ready, the question has already changed.

That's the problem Adaptive was built to solve. And it's why, today, Workday Adaptive Planning is becoming Adaptive from Workday. The new name reflects the role Adaptive already plays for our customers: connecting plans across the business, helping teams understand what’s changing, and giving leaders a clearer view of what to do next.

Over the past year, Workday has made a significant investment in Adaptive, bringing product, engineering, sales, marketing, and customer success together in a dedicated business unit. And we’re moving faster. In 2026 alone, we’ve delivered Planning Hubs, Adaptive Data Foundation, advanced workflows, integrations with Google Workspace, OfficeConnect, Slack, and Teams, and, of course, Decision Intelligence. These solutions are all generally available today and in the hands of customers around the world.

Moving from Insight to Action

For years, Adaptive has helped planning teams generate insight, align the organization, and understand what may come next. But expectations have changed: leaders no longer just need a clearer view of the business, they now need a fast path from insight to action.

That shift is at the heart of our repositioning to Adaptive from Workday. The new name reflects how Adaptive has evolved alongside our customers: moving from helping them build better plans to helping them adapt and act with greater confidence.

For customers, this means three things.

  1. Faster decisions with the full picture: FP&A teams cannot move quickly if they’re spending too much time reconciling data across systems, spreadsheets, and teams. Adaptive from Workday connects planning data with the information that lives across the rest of the business, from an ERP system to a data lake, without forcing teams to stitch it together manually in Excel. Instead of spending time assembling the picture, teams can focus on deciding what to do next.
  2. Model more scenarios, faster: Planning is no longer a once-a-year or even monthly exercise. Teams need to understand how constantly changing assumptions affect revenue, expenses, workforce plans, and business strategy. Adaptive from Workday helps organizations model hundreds of scenarios simultaneously, compare options, and adapt plans as conditions change.

  3. Planning in the flow of work: Planning shouldn’t be confined to the data in a planning tool, but embedded in the places decisions actually happen. Some of our customers work directly in Adaptive, while others interact with their plans through tools like Claude, Sana, Google Workspace, or Slack. Planning should meet teams where they work, not pull them into disconnected cycles or separate processes. That’s what Adaptive makes possible: bringing all teams into one connected planning process, so plans can keep pace with the business.

9x the Data, 9-Day Forecasts, $1M Saved: Customers Are Proving the Shift

Customers are already showing what this shift looks like in practice.

For AAA Club Alliance, the turning point came from rethinking its data model, freeing its team to focus on analysis instead of cleanup. "Rebuilding our Workday foundation and streamlining our finance data model have been game changers,” explained Jennifer Pennwell, VP of finance. “We cut complexity while bringing in 9x the data at a more granular level, so our teams can spend less time fixing numbers and more time using Adaptive to look ahead.”

TX Group saw the difference almost immediately after implementation, accelerating its forecasting cycle. "Our monthly rolling forecasts took two to three days and it still wasn’t as accurate as we needed it,” said Dimitris Nikoglou, group head of cloud ERP planning, TX Group. “So we needed a faster, more reliable approach that could keep pace with a complex, multi‑business group, and Adaptive was the key enabler for this…in 18 years of corporate finance, I've never seen a tool so helpful. The results from Adaptive are extremely good, and the speed is impressive.”

And at a large home health company, Adaptive delivered measurable financial impact that compounded year over year. "Using Adaptive, we've seen an ROI of close to $350,000 annually over a three-year period for over $1 million in savings," said the company’s VP of business operations.

These outcomes point to a larger opportunity. When teams spend less time reconciling data and rebuilding reports, they can spend more time asking better questions, modeling better options, and helping the business make better decisions faster.

Decision Intelligence at The Core

Decision Intelligence for Adaptive goes beyond telling you what happened. It helps teams understand what changed, weigh their options, take action, and keep a record of the decisions they made and why.

It brings together governed data from across the business with the context behind it, so teams can ask questions in plain language, understand why plans are off track, evaluate options, and easily take action.

AI can help teams get to the answer faster. The decisions still belong to people.

Same Trust, Greater Focus

Adaptive from Workday builds on everything more than 7,000 customers already trust, including the same Workday scale, governance, and security. And now it comes with even greater focus, investment, and commitment to our customers' success.

Where Adaptive is heading is bigger than planning: better decisions, based on the full picture of the business, including what teams decide, why they decided it, and then what happened next.

Welcome to Adaptive from Workday.
