Before co-founding GridCraft and serving as chief operating officer, Sayan was vice president of software development at Oracle, where he led teams focused on next-generation collaboration products. Prior to Oracle, Sayan served in various leadership roles at several technology start-ups over the course of nearly two decades. At the start of his career, Sayan worked as an engineer on interplanetary spacecraft at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, as well as on the early commercialization of global positioning systems (GPS).
Sayan is also a current member of the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC), which is tasked with advising the president and executive branch on U.S. government policy issues related to artificial intelligence.
Sayan holds a master of science degree and a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the appointment of 27 experts to the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC), including Sayan Chakraborty, executive vice president of product and technology at Workday. The committee will advise President Biden and the White House’s National AI Initiative Office on a broad range of AI issues.
