Workday Candidate Profile Reinvents How People Apply to Jobs

Today at Rising, we’re introducing Workday Candidate Profile, a simpler way for candidates to apply to roles using profile information they control. Candidates spend less time repeating themselves, and employers receive more complete applications.

We've listened to the feedback and heard the frustration: applying for a job should be simple. That’s why I’m so excited to announce the Workday Candidate Profile, a reusable, candidate-controlled profile experience designed to help job seekers apply faster across Workday-hosted career sites.

When I sat down with customers, the same pain points came up again and again: repetition is costing them talent. Candidates shouldn’t have to create another account, remember another password, upload the same resume, retype the same work history, and then do it all over again for the next application. That friction has a real cost—more than half of job applicants say they stop mid-application, often due to length and redundancy. Even for those who finish, a slow or repetitive first interaction can shape how they feel about a company before they ever speak to a recruiter.

We've listened to the feedback and heard the frustration: applying for a job should be simple. That’s why I’m so excited to announce the Workday Candidate Profile.

Workday Candidate Profile changes that experience.

Candidates can use profile information they control to help prefill standard application fields. That means less retyping, fewer repeated steps, and a simpler path from interest to submitted application.

For employers, the experience stays theirs. Candidates still apply through the employer’s career site. Existing workflows, requirements, validations, privacy experiences, and recruiting records remain intact.

A Better Application Experience

Our vision for Workday Candidate Profile is to make applying easier for candidates, give employers more complete information, and keep the workflows our customers trust. I believe Workday is uniquely positioned to deliver that. Every year, 30 million unique job seekers submit more than 432 million applications through Workday, and more than 30% of all U.S. job openings are hosted by Workday. Starting with Candidate Profile, Workday can make the application experience more seamless for millions of people.

With Workday Candidate Profile, customers can:

  • Reduce repetitive data entry: Candidates can use saved profile information to prefill standard application fields, reducing the need to re-enter the same details across applications.
  • Simplify sign-in: Seamless one-time password helps reduce password friction during the application process.

  • Improve application completion: A faster, easier application experience helps candidates move from interest to submission with fewer repeated steps.

  • Support more complete applications: Candidates can review and use profile information they control, helping employers receive more complete, consistent submissions.

  • Preserve critical workflows: Required questions, validations, privacy steps, and Workday Recruiting records remain intact, so employers keep the process they already rely on.

Our vision for Workday Candidate Profile is to make applying easier for candidates, give employers more complete information, and keep the workflows our customers trust.

Workday Candidate Profile In Action

When a candidate starts an application on a Workday-hosted career site, they can choose to continue with Workday Candidate Profile. From there, they sign in with the email associated with their profile and verify with a one-time password (OTP), helping reduce password friction during the application experience.

Once verified, Workday Candidate Profile can use saved profile information, like contact details, work history, education, and skills, to help prefill up to 80% of standard application fields. Candidates stay in control throughout the process: they can review, update, and confirm their information before submitting.

Employer-specific steps remain in place. Candidates complete required questions, disclosures, validations, and job-specific requirements. Once submitted, the application flows into Workday Recruiting through the employer’s existing process, with workflows and recruiting records intact.

Building Toward More Trusted Candidate Experiences

What excites me most is where the Workday Candidate Profile goes from here. Over time, I see it becoming a foundation for clearer, more consistent candidate information across Workday.

As candidates review, update, and use their profiles, Workday Candidate Profile can help build a deeper, more trusted picture of their experience, skills, and career history. That opens the door to employers getting better information about candidates, personalized guidance for candidates, and the building blocks for collaboration between humans and agents in job application processes.

Workday Candidate Profile is expected to be available in early 2027.  Learn more about Workday’s AI-powered talent acquisition solution.
